David Long was crowned King of Knockhill after a stunning 2019 season
David from Cumbernauld in Scotland has been travelling to Northampton Motorsport for engine calibration on his Caterham sprint car since 2014. During that time the car has been continually developed By David with the engine capacity increasing from 2.0 through 2.3 and now 2.5.
The upgrades included a sequential gearbox and then paddle shift and new suspension. This Caterham has even undergone aero development in the MIRA wind tunnel.
The 2019 season was when it all finally came together and David achieved his goal of winning the ‘King of the Hill’ trophy. This is awarded by Knockhill motor circuit to the highest scoring car for the season. In fact the car qualified on pole and won it’s class at every event during the year. It even managed an outright win against some 1000+BHP cars, and it now holds the class records in both directions at Knockhill.
We are not sure what else David can do to improve the car, but whatever it is we will always be happy to help where we can.
We suspect that the first thing he might need to do is build a bigger trophy cabinet.
